just wondering, is it worth to pursue this idea/concept:
make a -tm or whatever command, that makes the game enter a "Teaching Mode". The teaching mode would unlock a new tavern somewhere in the map, where one would find about 6 oversimplified and unoriginal heroes, 3 for each side, each of which would represent a classic role in dota: Carry (AGI), tank/support (STR), spammer/caster (INT) The noobie would be able to pick 3 heroes they wish, but the heroes will still be available for the rest in the game. For example there would be a maximum of 30 heroes in the game (although i doubt that more than one people would play tutorial mode with a noobie, so it will usually be 6 heroes in the game). The players will be able to control all three of the heroes that they chose and they will play around with them, learning dota. The tutor would also be there explaining things, and battling with the noob, to show him how to play OR if teaching mode ain't a good idea, what about a tutorial mode? where you play but you get messages everytime you do something (eg level up, learn a skill, click on a shop, go to roshan/etc), that explain to you what things mean just want oppinions on this, don't flame me if you think that these ideas are lame..! |

QUOTE What about reading the overabundance of guides? well, most players are casual ones and never ever get into the DotA forum. And there are many players that only play DotA LAN, they don't use or they don't know how to use the internet!i don't know, maybe it's worth trying maybe it ain't..! i want more opinions on this, before i make up my mind! |

yes, but will someone who just downloaded the map and doesn't know anything about dota visit the forum? generaly this would probably be helpful (the mode where everything gets explained) for noobs BUT this is a whole lot of work and the benefit for everyone with the slightest knowledge about dota is zero, so i am not sure if this is worth it |

QUOTE generaly this would probably be helpful (the mode where everything gets explained) for noobs i know what you mean. I, for example, would never get down to create this, even though i think it is useful for the noobs.. Only if i had too much free time. Hopefully someone will get inspired by this discussion and create one!BUT this is a whole lot of work and the benefit for everyone with the slightest knowledge about dota is zero, so i am not sure if this is worth it |
