Synegh's and Ingolf's Guide to Dazzle

Hero Abilities

For a description of skills, please visit: Dazzle - DotA Allstars Wiki

Skill Build

Grave - 1/12/13/14
Wave - 2/6/8/9
Touch - 3/4/5/7
Weave - 10/11/16

Justification: One level of Grave is taken early in case of early ganks and emergencies. One level of Wave is then gotten as a small heal and nuke for the lane. Touch is maxed so that you can use it to gank and harass in your lane. Weave is taken later when armor begins to matter more.

Core Items

Chicken/RoB/Headdress/Boots/Mek/2-3 Bracers/Wards

Bracers: Bracers are a boost to the HP pool of this semi-fragile hero.

Mekansm: This item gives stats and a heal, and is a great support item to pick up on this hero. Rushing this is your priority, however if you are having a particularly tough game early it is sometimes better to skip this and get some bracers.

Wards: Enables you to control the lane, and gives a lot of map control.

Luxury Items

BoT/Orchid/Guinsoo/Necrobook/Eul's

Orchid Malevolence: Silence and mana regen are fantastic, but can be a slow build-up.

Eul's: Eul's is a great item if you can get it for the movespeed, regen, mana and damage.

Boots of Travel: Great item for moving in and out of battles, and adds a ton of movespeed.

Playing Dazzle

Early Game: To start you usually want to grab the chicken, an RoB, and any branches if you can. You're going to want to get your RoB and Headdress quickly, and build up to Mek as quickly as possible.

Attack Animation: Dazzle's attack animation is quite good, as it's fast and quite easy to time. If you're babysitting, focus on denying and harass a lot.

Lane Control: Use Poison Touch and your regular attack to harass. Warding the forest beside you (if you aren't mid) is a great idea for lane control.

Strong Enemies: Against a strong enemy team just try to play carefully and babysit your ally. In particularly tough lanes, it can be very beneficial to skip Poison Touch early and to max out Shadow Wave as quickly as possible. Remember that Shallow Grave gives 5 seconds of immunity to death, so use it well.

The 5 Golden Rules

1. Use terrain to hide
Staying back a bit from the battle and out of the enemy heroes' eyesight is always a good plan. This ensures that you aren't quickly focus fired, which allows you to help your team the most. All of your spells have quite long cast ranges, so you never need to be really close in the battle unless you're auto-attacking.

2. Always Weave for the greatest effect
Always try to use Weave when it will have the greatest effect. The cooldown is quite short, but taking an extra second to aim your Weave to hit as many allies and enemies in a team battle as possible could mean an extra kill.

3. Shadow Wave for the greatest effect
Many new Dazzle players will simply Shadow Wave when an ally is away from other allies. Shadow Wave so that you can heal as many allies as possible in the 500 range bounce, unless that lone hero is about to die. When in the lane, using Shadow Wave to heal your ally and damage creeps to get creep kills is very effective, and this technique should be used often.

4. Use Shallow Grave
Some Dazzle players like to save Shallow Grave for "the best time", but then they never actually use it. Don't be afraid to use the spell. If you or an ally is about to die, use Shallow Grave on them so they can get away and live.

5. Let your teammates take kills
Don't let kills get away, but if your teammate can take it, let them have it. No one likes a KSing support hero, and Dazzle doesn't really need the gold himself. Team players are the best players!
