First of all, HELLO PEOPLE!
I don't know if I missed sub-forum where I should post this, was pickin' between General Discussion and Technical Support, but by seeing topics at TS sub-forum I don't think this belongs there.. if I made mistake, take my sincerely apologise for pickin' wrong part of forum for this topic. Anyway, I would like to ask something about DotA and problems while playing it in way of freezes, low fps and PC lags. My configuration of PC is not up to date, here is the list of components: Intel Celeron CPU 2.66Ghz 1,5GB DDR RAM NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 (Driver Version: 7.7.7.7, Driver Date: 20.7.2005, Driver Provider NVIDIA;) MSI Neo-V 848P Windows XP SP1 with some security updates. as you can see, it's not best PC on market Problem I have is, in 5v5 DotA my PC goes mad with constant freezes, low fps (my bet on fps is 1-5, mostly 1 /cry) and "PC Lag", after around 20th min. of game I am totally unable to play the game. My question is, is there some chance to fix that problem WITHOUT buying new PC or components (I am short with money /cry)? Maybe to try some other drivers for my graphic card? That is only thing I didn't try of things which came on my mind as possible solution. I would like to add that I am trying to keep my PC healthy, it doesn't have heat problems, I don't have viruses/trojans/spywares, I am doing weekly disk defrag and keepin' it clean with CCleaner proggy for fixin' trash and registry problems. I even disabled disk restore function as I heard it can slow PC. One more thing.. I am playing CS 1.6, World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade and Warcraft III TFT ladder (solo/at/rt) without any problems. I would never imagine that I am able to play WoW on medium-high details with 10-15fps but not DotA at ALL low details, everything on off, without sound and with 800x600x16 resolution. Any help about making me able to play DotA would be gift for me. Thanks in advance, kisses and hugs. This post has been edited by Rh7: Jul 13 2008, 04:47 AM |

First of all, HELLO PEOPLE! ... My question is, is there some chance to fix that problem WITHOUT buying new PC or components (I am short with money /cry)? Welcome to the forums. ... I am afraid you are going to have to spend some money somewhere. You can try Defragging your disk and cleaning up your PC a bit but that won't make your performance WAY better. As far as I can see you are going to have to spend some money and get some new RAM and/or a processor. Considering your RAM is DDR you would also most likely have to get a new motherboard that supports DDR2 in which case none of your other components would probably comply with a modern motherboard... And that leads to buying a whole new PC. In short, I am pretty sure you are going to need a new machine or play with poor performance. |

Ohh please, he doesn't need to buy anything.
If a 2Ghz, 512MB ram and a MX440 graphics card can play dota on 30+fps then his can surely play dota fine. First here are the latest Drivers for your graphics card: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html Second: Can you download HiJackThis and run it and click on [Do a system scan and save a log file], and post the entire log file here. Third: Are you running any other applications while your playing WarCraft ? |
