![]() After a the new patch (1.22) has been released people have been asking how to watch 1.21b replays when they have 1.22 installed, well I'm going to tell you the fastest working way. ***Make sure Warcraft III is closed before we begin.*** You must install WinRar (1.15MB), its free and its used to extract these files. What you need to download: These are the same downloads, just on different sites by request. Download 1.21b and 1.22 on either site. FileFront: MegaUpload:

why dont u use version switcher..
its much easier to watch replay.. u can DL it here after u DL the 1.22 patch and patching it,u can store it at the version swither too.. now u wont have problem with the replay version This post has been edited by Reinzeir: Jul 5 2008, 02:35 AM |

Its 60 mb, this is clearly a faster way and way less memory.

no offence, but this guide fails. it's rather a guide for "howto use winrar". and it's not faster either, the files you linked are, together, more than 60mb in size.
besides, why repatching the game with the whole 1.22 patch every time you go back to the current version (including all the checks the patch installer does, wich could produce errors when playing around with the game files, leaving you with a non-working game that you have to reinstall from scratch), when the way describled in the Viewing old patch replays thread is clearly the fastest, safest, and simplest way to do the stuff. (it have to be updated for including the .mpq in the copy/paste process tho). |

And this is the same as "Viewing old patch replays" guide except it being updated, its the 4 dll's and the .mpq file. This post has been edited by Champ: Jul 4 2008, 06:38 AM |

And this is the same as "Viewing old patch replays" guide well i assume you dont see the distinct differences, not in the actual writing, but in the way how to get to the desired result, and especially, back. but nvm, i thank you for teaching me howto use winrar |

Well in that case I'll just copy those files into my brand spanking new WarcraftIII/1.22 folder, and copy the old war3.exe file into my 1.21, 1.20, and 1.19 folders. I'm using Infrisos' original Beachpack MPQ file (now his Theme Manager, which apparently works just fine in 1.22), so I'm not sure if I need to use the new MPQ file at all. With any luck, that should actually work. Thanks Champ! This post has been edited by flemeister: Jul 4 2008, 07:46 AM |

I totally agree with flemeister, since I have the disk space I simply created a 1.21b and 1.22 Warcraft III folder.

How about the other way round? How to watch 1.22 replays with 1.21b? Just click on the 1.22 patch and download and run that, but I heard that then change the version back, then you will get fatal erros so just make it in a different folder, so install Warcraft in a separate folder other than C:\Program Files\Warcraft III, just do it to desktop then upgrade the patch and then u can move it back into there but making its own folder, that's what everyone seems to be doing now. I think its a really good idea. If you guys don't get this then I will probably make a new guide, its a little time consuming and you will need some memory. I got a critical error.. Perhaps relating to needing a different war3.exe? Can anyone who makes this work link there exe file please? It wont work, your files are messed up, I would just copy your maps folder to your desktop, go to Control Panal -> Add and Remove Programs -> Remove Warcraft III All Products. Then reinstall it and replace your maps with the new folder so you don't lost them all. |

The way Flemeister and Justin do it makes it much easier because you don't have to repatch to get 1.22 back. I just do it like this:
(Assuming the wc3 directory is the default c:\program files\warcraft III) - unrar the file to a 1.21b directory in your wc3 directory. - go to your wc3 directory and create a new directory called 1.22. - copy game.dll, ijl15.dll, mss32.dll, storm.dll, war3.exe, and war3patch.mpq to the 1.22 folder. - now you have the 1.21b version and 1.22 version in different folders. Anytime you want to view a 1.21b replay, just go into the 1.21b folder and COPY (don't move) those files to your main wc3 directory. When you want to switch back to 1.22, just copy the files in the 1.22 directory to the main wc3 directory. To make this simple, I use the following batch files: 121.bat: CODE cd c:\progra~1\warcra~1 copy .\1.21b\* .\ 122.bat: CODE cd c:\progra~1\warcra~1 copy .\1.22\* .\ I put them on my desktop and just run whichever version I want. No need to repatch or anything like that. Tested with 1.21b and 1.22 replays with no errors. I'm not sure if you can still use batch files in Vista, but on XP, this works fine. |

Thanks. |

Yes I had that problem also, I had to reinstalled it, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, what I would do is make the two separate folders thing that wont cause any errors. I will make a guide on that shortly. |
